The Genius Director Uses a Future App

Episode 2: A Parody with Better CGI Than the Original

【Original CF Video of Chae Seoyoon’s Beverage Ad.avi】

└ Wow, this is amazing.

└ This is like an insane cinematic masterpiece.

└ The original is so much better. Why did they officially choose that lame version?

└ Maybe the advertiser liked the vibe of snowboarding down the slope, switching to spring scenery, and cracking open a can.”

└ The effects are insane! This is next level!

└ There’s no way this is an amateur project. The quality is on par with a Hollywood-level CGI studio.

└ Why would a professional team work on something like this for no profit?

└ Sometimes they do it for fun or self-fulfillment…

└ A demon is chasing and destroying everything, and yet a person in ski gear surfs down lava—why does it look so natural and not awkward at all?

└ Because the graphics are just that good.”

└Wow, how did they even make such a masterpiece?

└It starts all fresh and bubbly, suggesting you enjoy a carbonated drink now that winter’s over, and suddenly it turns into this over-the-top cinematic madness, lol.

└ As someone working in the industry, I can say this is definitely not amateur work. It’s top-tier, even among pros.

└ I know it’s impressive, but is it really that good?

└ I zoomed in and analyzed it frame by frame, and there’s nothing awkward about it. The compositing is so natural it looks like it was always part of the original CF. Compared to the broadcast version, the quality difference is ridiculous.

└ I’m confused—so which one is the real original?

└ The original is where the giant demon gets sealed into an empty beverage can after a lava board-surfing escape.

└ Exactly. The one where someone rides down a slope, drinks the soda, and it ends—that’s just a fan-made video.

I uploaded the video on WeTube just to test it out, and the response has been explosive.

I only created my WeTube account today, yet my first upload already hit 5 million views.

I was satisfied after making the video, but with everyone praising and admiring it, I feel even better.

Even when I’m still, my shoulders want to jump up and down on their own.

‘Wait, but I didn’t even make this?’

【Cha Doyoung, you are the creator.】

But all I did was give instructions! I didn’t even click the mouse once!’

【You directed the production and editing, provided specific instructions, and visualized the result for me to implement.

I am simply a tool that outputs the image you envision.

Thus, this is your video, Cha Doyoung.】

Still, I feel like I barely did anything…

【In the 30th century, this is how all video content is produced.】

Well, if tools change, adapting to those tools is only natural, right?

【Your current appreciation points: 5.6 million.】

It’s just exactly like YouTube views, right? But what’s this “appreciation points” thing?

【The more people enjoy your content, the more points you accumulate.】

【These points can be used to unlock additional model slots and various useful features.】

【This app offers a wide range of functions to ensure user satisfaction.】

Wait, what? I thought this was a free app, but is it actually paid?

【The point system is a process designed to keep users engaged and motivated in creating video content.】

What’s the difference?

【If you start a game with all levels, items, maps, and skills unlocked from the tutorial, how long would you enjoy it?】

Ah, I get it now. I’d probably get bored and ditch it in no time.

【The app’s developers are most concerned about users losing interest and uninstalling it.】

【To keep users engaged, we offer various motivational elements to immerse them in content creation.】

【With that in mind, here is your first quest:】

【Upload two additional videos using the same model and achieve a combined total of 15 million views.】

【Reward: 1 additional model slot】

【Deadline: 30 days】

So, I just need to hit 5 million views with two more videos?

I’ve already done it once, so this should be a piece of cake.

I picked another Chae Seoyoon clip recommended by the video app.

Alright, my view machine army, stay tuned.

I’ll transform this into something even more spectacular with insane graphics.

***

“How’s the work? Manageable?”

“Yes, I could keep doing it for a year, even two.”

“Hey, you idiot. Why are you thinking about doing odd jobs for years? Save what you need and get out fast.”

“But like you said, it’s not like this job lets me save much. To hit my target, a few months won’t cut it.”

Originally, I started this job to cover living expenses after finishing my military service and save up for a deposit on a two-room apartment.

But now, I’ve changed my mind.

‘With 8 million views, how much ad revenue could that generate?’

Of course, since I just created the account, it’s not monetized yet.

I’ve hit the subscriber requirement, but the total watch hours are still far from enough.

I’ve only uploaded one video so far, and since it’s short, the watch time isn’t enough.

Until I’m confident, I’ll just have to live as a corporate slave for now.

Anyway, it’s not like I even need to lift a finger; all I have to do is think, “click,” and it’s done.

It doesn’t take any effort to create these videos anyway.

‘Should I try taking on some CGI commissions?’

Earning money quickly through commissions is tempting.

But announcing “I’m taking commissions” on my YouTube channel feels premature.

I’ll upload a few more videos as a portfolio and announce it then. Right now, with just one video, It might look desperate.

***

A few days passed after I uploaded my second video.

But the views still hadn’t exceeded 500,000.

‘What’s the problem?’

The comments weren’t bad.

They were full of praise.

└ Wow, the CGI is insane. ã„·ã„·ã„·

└ My eyes feel cleansed.

└ This isn’t fan-made; this is professional-level.

└ Looks like a pro CGI artist made this as a side project for fun.

└ That’s it. No arguments. My statement is always correct.

All the comments raved about the graphics, but why hadn’t the views broken past 500,000?

The first video had already surpassed 8 million.

One particularly popular comment caught my attention:

└ The CGI effects in the parody of Chae Seoyoon’s CF was great, but the concept feels too much like a copy-paste of the first one.

└ The graphics are amazing and visually stunning, but is the parody itself fresh or fun? Not really. It feels repetitive, which is probably why the views aren’t increasing. It’s a shame.

The second video I uploaded was a parody of Chae Seoyoon’s cosmetics CF.

Just like the first video, I turned the background into hell, had a demon chase her, and sealed the demon’s soul into a cosmetic bottle.

I poured even more effort into it than the first one.

I spent ten times the amount of time on it, meticulously fine-tuning every detail.

Thanks to that, the visuals were on par with a Hollywood blockbuster in HD quality.

But…

‘The graphics and direction are good, but it’s not entertaining? The concept is exactly the same as the first video, so it doesn’t feel fresh?’

This won’t do.

Even the first video’s view growth was slowing down.

To complete the quest, the third video needed to hit at least 7.5 million views.

I had assumed the second video would easily surpass 5 million, but with only a tenth of that, I was dumbfounded.

‘Should I try using a famous scene from one of Chae Seoyoon’s movies or dramas instead of another CF?’

This is something I need to fix.

The video app can visualize anything I imagine, down to the finest details, following my instructions exactly.

But it doesn’t create entirely new content for me.

The reason was simple:

【The app avoid actions that might completely diminishing the user’s interest in content creation.】

It felt like the app was pampering me, encouraging me not to lose interest in creative work.

Come to think of it, humanity must not have been wiped out by AI in the next 1,000 years.

‘What if I remade a scene from a romantic comedy drama with dazzling visuals? …No, that would just be a weaker version of the first video, The only thing missing would be the mad-movie concept.’

‘What if I make Chae Seoyoon act in a completely original way, something she’s never done before?’

Wait a second.

Wouldn’t that count as unauthorized deepfake?

The videos I made before were just fan-made parody clips where I slightly altered the background, props, and costumes.

So there were no issues.

That sort of thing is normal these days.

But creating expressions, lines, actions, and performances that Chae Seoyoon never actually did?

I’m no expert in this field, but that sounds like it could be a serious issue.

【The consent of the registered model is required.】

As expected.

Using footage of Chae Seoyoon’s actual acting is within acceptable limits,

But creating entirely new acting via CGI? That would require her permission…

“Well, then I’ll just get her permission.”

I decided to send a proposal to her agency.

It might feel reckless, but that’s how the world works.

If you sit still, nothing happens.

You can’t be afraid of failure—you have to act first to turn a zero into a plus.

***

【Hello, I run a WeTube channel called <30THC>…

…I would like to create a nature preservation video using polar bears, which actress Chae Seoyoon is known to like as a theme…

...There’s no need for the actress to perform herself…】

To make a proposal the agency would consider, I studied Chae Seoyoon and diligently drafted my proposal.

But something nagged at me as I wrote.

‘The actress doesn’t need to act directly. Would an actor really like that?’

I couldn’t be sure about an artist’s feelings, but…

‘All I need is your facial data. Your acting isn’t necessary at all.’

Wouldn’t that offend her?

It’s like denying their worth as an actor entirely.

【You’ve reached a critical realization on your own.】

【As a reward, one model registration slot has been added.】

【Current slots: ½】

【Registered model: Chae Seoyoon】

I wasn’t expecting this, but I got a free slot.

Hmm. Indeed, from the actor’s perspective, it could be offensive.

‘Let’s contact her to officially perform the role instead.’

***

【Although our finances are quite limited and we cannot provide a fee, we humbly request Chae Seoyoon’s participation in the polar bear conservation project…】

I finalized the proposal as respectfully as possible, appealing to her goodwill and interest.

I was about to send it to her agency via email when—

“What’s this?”

【Hello, this is Pine Tree Entertainment.】

Chae Seoyoon’s agency had left a long, private comment on my channel.
